About Me

My name is Priscilla Pantoja, and I am excited to formally announce my bid for Laredo City Council District 7 in the upcoming 2020 election. I am 36 years old, mother of three and a resident of District 7 for over 30 years. I earned an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Mathematics at Laredo Community College, later earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Management and continue pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration at Texas A&M International University. I have been volunteering to help the Laredo community through various nonprofit organizations since the age of 18 and have nearly ten years of experience coordinating precinct initiatives for Webb County Precinct 4.

My Purpose

My purpose in this is simple: I want to shape tomorrow, today! There is no question that the world is changing rapidly and so is our city. It is very clear that there are things in our city and, more specifically, in our district that need work in order to keep up with those changes. I am determined to make innovative changes that are going to certainly help us today and also prepare us for what the future brings.

From the time that I was a child, I had an innate desire to arm myself with knowledge and skills that would allow me to be versatile and efficient in any endeavor on which I embarked. My ideation of a life-long career was centered around one solitary purpose to do everything within my power to serve and improve my community. I knew then, that to fulfill this profound love for public service, I could never stop listening and learning; two of the most basic but unassailable skills that I had resolved to sharpen diligently throughout my life.

I am a proud graduate of Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, class of 2002. I earned an Associate of Arts degree with a major in Mathematics at Laredo Community College, later earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Management at Texas A&M International University while serving as the Family Readiness Group Leader for the Bravo Co. 3-141 INF during the 2009-2010 Operation Iraqi Freedom and continue pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration at Texas A&M International University.

My affinity for being a life-long learner did not begin or end with formal education. I was always cognizant of the value of life experience as means of scholarship--my aspiration to public service always at the forefront. In 2011, I initiated my journey as Executive Assistant to Webb County Commissioner Pct. 4. This ignited my passion for discovering new ways to increase the quality of life for the citizens of Laredo-Webb County. In the course of this endeavor, I made it a point to continue to bolster my skill set by becoming active and holding leadership roles in non-profit organizations with missions that aligned with my own.

Perhaps the most valuable lesson I learned in that pivotal moment of my life is that recognitions and accolades have no value sitting on a trophy case; I could not set out to merely collect the proverbial “notch on my belt”. What really mattered and what was going to be truly valuable is what I did with the enlightenment that resulted from my experiences.

Laredo District 7 has been my home for more than 30 years and my intentions are deeply rooted in moving this district forward. I aspire for what we all want, our children safe and to be proud of where they live. However, I am not naïve to the fact that a candidate cannot simply wish these things to fruition. We must work feverishly together to make sure that we are securing resources and seizing every opportunity to expand and advance our community and its infrastructure.

I respectfully ask for your support in being elected to serve the constituents of District 7. As a mother and member of this community, I share your concerns in regards to the lack of adequate lighting in our neighborhoods, the need for removal of neighborhood nuisances, and the necessity of improving the quality and maintenance of our streets. Give me the opportunity to fight for our families and make sure that those issues are addressed. I am prepared to work fervently to make sure that our area is a safe place for outside recreation, fitness activities, and family gatherings.

In an effort to increase our sense of security, my hope is to work with the police and fire departments within our city and district to incorporate a training program that will enable them to continue to grow professionally and keep abreast with the latest technology and crime trends. Their continued education and growth will allow them to stay adept to better protect and serve our community. My ultimate goal is for citizens to be able to have access to fun and exciting activities without having to travel to other districts to do so.

In fact, training and education for the entire City of Laredo workforce must be consistent not only to provide good morale among our workforce but to enable them to grow professionally thus, giving them the ability to provide District 7 and the City of Laredo with optimized service and professionalism.

Ultimately, a vote for me is a commitment to secure a better future for our families without ever having to relocate. In fact, the most ideal scenario and my predilection would be that our children will in turn bring their own families back to the place where they spent the most wholesome and happy years. Let me make that happen for you, for your families, and for our children.

Vote Priscilla Pantoja for City Council District 7 this November and get ready to see District 7 flourish into one of the most sought out destinations in Laredo.
